Do you know which two days are the most important days of your life? The day you were born again and the day you found out why!

Be Different

1 Peter 2:9 says that you are “chosen.” When you leave this planet, people are going to miss you! You are important. God wants to use you to make a difference. It doesn’t matter what you have or what you don’t have, it doesn’t matter where you are from. You are a child of God. You are special, you are important, and God wants to use you.

We are living in a society today where most people are going through an identity crisis. When we were teenagers most of our time was spent figuring out who we are. Those who were successful found themselves, but those who weren’t continue to search for their identity. Plenty of books have been written on this subject, but what people really need is a solution. Look in the book of Leviticus and you will find the words: “Be holy!” It is an invitation from God himself. He says, “Be holy, for I am holy.” He is saying, “You don’t have to suffer an identity crisis. When you find me, when you look at me, then you can be just like me. Then you will find your identity.”

You see, we are different so that we can make a difference! Many people find it difficult to own what makes them different. They act one way at church and another way at work. It is far better to own what makes you different! Be satisfied with what makes you different. Don’t try to be like someone else. Be satisfied with what God has made you to be! It is what makes us different that is impacting society. Your difference is not for your sake; what makes you different is for making a difference in the world. God can’t use you if you want to be someone else!

One of the challenges of being different is that people don’t understand you. It would be easier just to be like everybody else. But everybody who has made a difference has been different and misunderstood from the beginning. Even Jesus was misunderstood because he was different – but it was because he was different that he could make a difference. To be great is to be misunderstood.

God has chosen you to go to a world filled with adversity. It is a world that needs light in the darkness. People need someone who will make a difference at their school, at their job, among their relatives. This is your time! This is why you are alive today. You are called to be different. You are chosen. You aren’t called to participate, you are called to penetrate, to impact, to make a difference. Start today!
