Good morning,
All of us wish we knew what the future holds. Does it make more sense to get a fixed-rate mortgage or an adjustable-rate mortgage? Will it be easier to get a job if I switch majors? I sense God telling me to do something – but what will the outcome be if I do?
In Psalm 119:105 it says “Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” When this verse was written, everyone knew what the Psalmist meant. Back then, whenever you went somewhere at night time, you tied an oil lamp to each ankle. The light from these lamps wasn’t strong, so you still had to walk carefully, but you could see far enough to take one step at a time.
God’s word is your ankle lamp. His word gives you enough light to take one step at a time. Listen to his words, compare your situation with what he says in his word, and then take another step. Sure, we all want to know more about the future, but his word gives us an answer for that as well: “The righteous shall live by faith.”
Even if you know where you are headed, you will never have all the answers. You have to trust that God is going to reveal the answers that you need as you take each step according to the light coming from your ankle lamps.
Today you have enough light to take the next step – do it now!
Good morning,
Tommy
