Why do we help Jews home to Israel?

The first time Tommy visited Israel was in 1996. He was the chaplain of a group trip and was surprised to get asked if he could teach about Israel. It was then and there that Tommy felt God speaking to him from a passage in the Bible about Israel:

“Behold, I will lift My hand in an oath to the nations, and set up My standard for the peoples; they shall bring your sons in their arms, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders.”
Isaiah 49:22

“The standard,” Tommy realized, was Jesus. The “oath” was a calling on Christians, and the mission was to bring the Jews home to Israel. Once back in Sweden, Tommy started “Operation Great Exodus,” a project whose goal is to help as many Jews as possible home to Israel. Many years later, together with many supporters and churches, Tommy has helped more than 25,000 Jews from all over the world return home to Israel.

Bring my people home

Jews from the former Soviet Union, Ukraine, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East, most of whom have seen their situations change drastically, have found safety in Israel with the help of Operation Great Exodus.

In a world where antisemitism is growing, Israel has become an ark for the Jews of the world, and for every Jew who returns, the prophecy of Isaiah is getting fulfilled, that in the future the Lord will “assemble the outcasts of Israel and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.” Isaiah 11:12.

In order to be able to return from the four corners of the earth, they first had to get spread to the corners.

It took nearly 2000 years! In the middle of the 1800s, there were Jews in Chile, Alaska, Japan, Australia and South Africa. Then the unthinkable happened!
They started to return.

They returned after 2,700 years!

The first Jews who were forced to leave Israel were the 10 tribes, the northern kingdom, who were forced out when Israel was conquered and captured by the Assyrians in 722 BC. The southern kingdom, the tribes of Judah and Benjamin, returned after the Babylonian Captivity in 500 BC, but were forced out again at the beginning of the 100s. Even though there have always been Jews living in Israel, there was only a small remnant until the Russian Jews started to return in the 1870s. What an amazing story about how a people maintained their ethnicity for thousands of years! One of the tribes that OGE has helped home is the tribe of Manasseh, which was deported 2,700 years ago. They were discovered in the deepest jungles of northeastern India several years ago, and there was no doubt – they were the Jews of the tribe of Manasseh!

Return and restoration go hand in hand.

It’s not only about returning. In Israel, OGE has actively facilitated the integration of the Jews by getting involved in orphanages, elderly care, and humanitarian aid. They are also a part of the revival going on in Israel.

Israel – the only democracy in the Middle East?

Israel is not a country like all others. It is written that Jerusalem is located where it is, because God placed Jerusalem there (Ezekiel 5:5). “Can a nation be born in a day?” Isaiah prophesied (66:8). Yes, Israel was reborn as a nation on May 14, 1948. The entire Arab world declared war on the tiny remnant, many of whom had just come back from concentration camps in Germany and Poland, but they survived against all odds. The war has raged on, and many times the survival of Israel has been threatened. But Israel has been under special protection; many times an invisible hand has intervened. The attackers have made mistakes or bad decisions, and miraculously Israel has gotten through.

Why do we help the Jews home to Israel?

Everything goes back to Isaiah 49:22. There is a calling from God on every believer to help the Jewish people home to Israel. In his book “The Jews – Heroes of Eternity” Tommy thoroughly explains the theology of Israel, the church, and the End Times.

This does not mean that TLM is against any other people groups in the region. For many years, TLM has been involved in humanitarian aid in the West Bank. TLM’s overall goal is to reach all people with the gospel of Jesus..

Become part of this prophetic work!

Since 1996, TLM has worked in close collaboration with Israel. Together with many churches and many individual believers, the work continues. It is written that “not a single one” will be left out there, and through the entire Bible there is a common thread that those who have blessed Israel have been blessed back. Israel and the Jews are at the center of the end times, which means that OGE is more than a project; it is an active part of the prophetic actions of God in our time.
